After starting work a client with a learning disability was having difficulty with job performance. As a dispatcher he had to read schedules and pass information on to customers. This person was having difficulty reading the schedule in the format that was provided.

 

Example Schedule:
Monday-Toronto, Scarborough, North York etc.

Tuesday-  Mississauga, Pickering, Oakville etc.

Wednesday - Etc.

 

This was time consuming and difficult to learn. The schedule was formatted for the drivers but not the dispatcher that were answering questions on when they would be servicing a particular city. We created an colour coded schedule so the client could read the schedule faster. This result in an increased performance and the employee remained employed.

 

Example Colour Coded Schedule:

Pickering             Tuesday
Toronto                Monday
Scarborough      Monday
