Give a Chance

One of my clients that came from a competitor agency. He hadn't had an interview in two years. The client had a major head injury, processing disabilities and had limited mobility in a wheelchair.  When I interviewed this person I asked why he felt he couldn’t get an interview? He told me that no one would give him a chance and all me wanted to do was help people. The client had stable employment  history .  I asked the client what services had he received from the other agency.  The client told me he was receiving sheets of employers to cold call. His disability was very apparent and it was clear that he needed assistance advocating to employers.

We approached a local restaurant. The owner was concerned about his mobility and how he could use this client competitively.  After some discussion the employer was impressed with the personality and dedication of the client. It was suggested that the client could clean tables assist with seating guests and with a modified tray with a strap could even bus tables.

The employer decided to give him an offer. After two weeks working for the employer, the client became regarded as one of employer's most dedicated employees.
